![]() ![]() ![]() Even though a game has a 32-minutes runtime, the real-time that the game lasts will be much longer. If you want to create more complex rotations check out the Rotation Planner App that let’s you create a subsitution pattern using an easy drag-and-drop interface. Typically, high school games are scheduled for 32 minutes, and those 32 minutes are divided into four quarters that are 8 minutes each. However, you could easily be sitting for 2+ hours to watch the whole game. Some major European and international setups, though, will use a 10-minute quarter instead, making the whole match 40-minutes in length. Just pick the number of players on your team and the length of the game and you get a recommendation on how to substitute your players including a rotation chart and substitution plan. Each quarter makes up a 12-minute session, meaning that in total a game of basketball will last for 48-minutes at NBA level. That’s why I’ve created a tool that helps you to divide playing time fairly among your players! As a coach, it’s pretty easy to lose track of how long your players have already played and who to substitute for whom. Splitting playing time fairly isn’t as trivial as it might sound. The game clock in basketball keeps track of the amount of time left in the current half or quarter during a game. These days, more and more youth leagues agree with this statement and mandate coaches to provide fair playing times for all players. In youth sports, the #1 priority of a basketball coach shouldn’t be trying to win every game but to provide an opportunity for kids to have fun, gain confidence, and work on their skills in friendly competition. ![]()
